I have watched this geranium all summer. When I planted it stood up straight and tall. It is when I put the plant on the green chair, that is not in the direct sunlight on my porch, that I noticed it reaching for the sun. Just like the geranium I love the sun, the light and warmth that is brings. In the winter I crave the light and the warmth of the sun, almost reaching for it. I am one that doesn’t enjoy the darkness. It’s like that with Jesus, we are made to know him and to need him, to reach for him. He gives me hope in this dark world. He is light. The darkness is filled with things we can’t see, sometimes scary things, things that are not good for us. But Jesus said “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” John 8:12. This is a little devotion for your Wednesday. How about you? Do you find yourself reaching for Jesus, the light of the world, to bring you hope?
