On Monday’s post, I mentioned snowmen that I made over the weekend. I had so much fun creating these snowmen, as I haven’t worked with clay in a long time. The experience brought back fond memories of my childhood, playing outside in the snow and building snowmen with my sister. I saw recently that someone had made pumpkins and snowmen on Pinterest, so I had to try my hand at it too, excited to blend creativity with this nostalgic pastime, allowing me to connect with my artistic side. The snowmen took a while, having to cut Styrofoam balls, tape, and mold clay around them, which was quite the process, but I relished every moment; it was therapeutic to immerse myself in such a hands-on project. Then, after the clay was dry, I needed to fill in the cracks that occurred while drying, a task that required patience but was essential for achieving that smooth finish, making me appreciate the craftsmanship involved. I then had to wait for that clay to dry before I sanded and painted the snowman, which allowed me to visualize how he would eventually come to life. I applied two coats of white and two coats of orange paint to ensure that he would stand out and catch the eye of anyone who saw him, thinking about how vibrant colors can transform even the simplest of creations. Next, I painted the eyes and the mouth to give him personality and make him come alive, imagining him smiling warmly as he greeted visitors, bringing joy and a smile to everyone’s face. After all of that, I painted on some glue and added some mica flakes to make him sparkle, replicating the glistening effect of fresh snow in the sunlight and creating a magical touch that only enhanced his charm. The final thing is to add a handle, and he will be finished, an exciting step that brings me closer to sharing this creation with others and marking the completion of a heartfelt project. Lots of love and time went into this project, and it is not completely done, as I still have a few finishing touches to add, such as ensuring that every detail is just right. I will have these snowmen at my booth @dogwoodvintiques if you are interested in having one at your house, ready to bring a touch of whimsy and holiday cheer to your home, inviting warmth and creativity into your space, and perhaps even a little bit of the magic of winter. I can’t wait to see their joyful faces brighten up someone else’s holiday décor!
