Weekend recap for everyone reading… Bueller? Sometimes days get so busy that I forget what I did. That was me this weekend. On Friday, I had several appointments, including a necessary mammogram. Ladies, please prioritize your health and get your mammogram. Afterward, my husband and I checked out an estate sale, finding a few vintage items that interested us, but the sale itself was underwhelming. We later visited an antique mall, which was enjoyable as we explored the creative booths. Saturday was also packed with a visitation and a family reunion. My mom was thrilled to see her cousins, and it’s always heartwarming to catch up with my aunts and uncle, whom I haven’t seen in a while. After the reunion, I went grocery shopping and realized I hadn’t cooked properly in days. So, I prepared comforting noodles, flavorful pork steak, and classic deviled eggs that remind me of family gatherings. I followed my dad’s technique of searing the pork steaks and adding BBQ sauce before slow-cooking them in the oven, which made them tender and juicy. Sunday was for church. Later, I refreshed a small bookcase for the antique booth by painting it with Miss Mustard Seeds’ tricycle milk paint, which brought a lovely pop of color. And just like that, the weekend ended, leaving me tired.

I recently started a new series about what I’m reading, watching, making, and cooking. Last week, I read The Rainbow Comes and Goes by Anderson Cooper and Gloria Vanderbilt, which explores their complex relationship. It’s sad how work and material possessions created distance between them, showing how often we get caught up in superficial things. Their heartfelt letters helped them connect deeply despite their busy lives. I sense in Gloria a strong yearning for God’s love, leaving me to wonder if she ever truly found that connection. On another note, I’m enjoying Handcrafted Hotels on Discovery, where each hotel is an artwork showcasing amazing craftsmanship. It’s very inspiring! As for making, I’m busy with my business, juggling special orders and finishing new ornaments, including the charming snowmen I showed you before. In cooking, I’ll mention the pork steak above and note that I have many delightful recipes I want to try to bring joy to my family during this busy time.
