I think on social media I am the last to put up my Christmas tree. This year we bought a new one. For years we used the same Martha Stewart one my husband bought on sale at Kmart. The lights had gone out, and I had cut them off. We strung new lights on it each year. But this year we went out to Menards and bought a new tree with lights that work. Glorious! Our tree is like the one I grew up with. All the childhood ornaments from the past are displayed on it every year, each telling its own story. It is fun to pull the ornaments out of the box and remember which child made which one. We have ornaments from our nieces. There are ornaments with the boys’ hand prints on them. We have ornaments of the boys as angels. There are also ornaments from when I taught preschool. We have ornaments from when Stephen and I were first married. I even have one on the tree from my sixth-grade teacher. I did add some new ribbon to the tree this year, a combination of ribbon purchased from the Schaefer House and Hobby Lobby. I am pleased with how it turned out, and I am also pleased that the lights work.

Every year we have to move the table that sits where the tree goes. We move it to the dining room along with the lamp that sits on it. I just add the table and the lamp to the already existing basket/crate that is there. This is the perfect area for our nativity and high enough that little hands can’t pick them up.

I still have to decorate a few more areas. My plan is to finish that task by Friday so I can show you some pictures. How about you? Do you have your tree up? Do you decorate with ornaments collected over the years, or do you have a themed tree?

I wanted to remind you about the sale on Saturday that I am a part of. This is your invitation. Come by and say hi.
