Hello friend. Happy day. Our favorite team did not win the Super Bowl. So sad for the Kansas City Chiefs. What was your favorite thing about the Super Bowl? Lauren Daigle, Kendrick Lamar, the commercials, the food, or the game itself? This year I fixed deviled eggs, Rotel, warm ham and cheese sandwiches, and lemon bars. Of course, there were chips to go along with the Rotel. I have to admit, I fell asleep. I always do. When I was younger, I would go to bed at 9:00, never once staying to see the end of a Sunday night movie. In college, a bunch of friends and I were invited to a couple’s home for chocolate chip cookies and a movie. Warm chocolate chip cookies sounded inviting since I was four hours away from home and didn’t get that treat often. I went, and I fell asleep; my friend was so mad at me and told me how rude I was. I was rude, but my eyelids couldn’t stay open.

I decided to pick up the watercolors over the weekend. I thought it would be fun to paint an item that starts with every letter of the alphabet. So far, I have painted an apple, bee, cherries, and a daisy. The apple, cherries, and bee remind me of my Grandma Bea, who once lived in Spring Garden. She had apple trees and a cherry tree when I was growing up. I have heard about the peach trees; I guess they were long gone when I was young because I don’t remember them. We would pick apples from the apple trees. Somebody in my family would take a salt shaker and salt the green apples when eating them. I don’t remember who, though. The cherries that we would pick would make our lips pucker because of the tartness. We didn’t care; we kept picking them year after year. And the bee. In her later years, somebody gave Grandma a stuffed bee because her name was Bea. My niece’s middle name is Beatrice after Grandma, so I tend to buy her bee items to keep up with the tradition.

While I painted, I listened to Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume. I read it when I was young. It is lighthearted, so I decided to listen to it, and I howled with laughter. I’m not sure if I thought it was funny when I was young, but I do now that I’m middle-aged and have a different perspective. I recommend listening to it.

And that’s a wrap. I wish you the very best day. Stay warm out there.

As always I am so glad you’re here.

Best,

Amy
