Hello friend. It’s Friday, yay for the weekend. On Wednesday, I shared with you about the neighborhood and house I grew up in. Today, I thought I would share about a house that was in the neighborhood where the Mustoe family lived. The Mustoe family had three boys and a girl, a mom, and a dad. One of the boys and the girl taught my sister and me how to swim. We would go to the nearby community pool. They would teach us how to blow bubbles. They also taught us to float and do the crawl stroke. I loved them and thought they were so cool. The house was cool too. At one time, it had been an apartment with a back entrance and a front entrance. The upstairs had lots of bedrooms. It had a kitchen, a bath, and a living area. The downstairs had several bedrooms and a bathroom. It also had a very long living room. This opened to a dining room—open concept before it was a thing. It had a galley kitchen. This led to an eating area that was screened in. Maybe it was glassed in—I don’t remember. It had a postage stamp yard; all of the houses on that street did. In that yard, the dad would play horseshoes when he got off work. He worked in education, and the mom was a stay-at-home mom who volunteered. She was friendly. She took the time to get to know us. Sometimes, she would take my sister and me in for a chocolate chip cookie. Both the mom and dad are gone now. Sometimes, I dream of them, about their cool house, and the blessing of knowing them. The children are scattered, but Facebook is a great tool to keep in touch. I am thankful I grew up knowing them.
