Hello, friend! What have you been up to? We are back from vacation. It was a whirlwind. On May 9th, Max graduated from high school.

He attended project graduation and came home at 3:30 AM. We left on May 10th at 9:00 AM to catch a flight to Washington, D.C. To say we were all tired is an understatement, especially Max. In D.C., we saw many things… the Museum of the American Indian, the nation’s Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial, the Air and Space Museum, the White House, and the Museum of Natural History. We visited my cousin Molly in Georgetown.

We drove to Mount Vernon, George Washington’s home. We were disappointed because the house was torn up for renovations. We only saw two rooms. We did see, however, an amazing man who played the drum and flute. He made flutes out of common household items such as an aluminum crutch and a garden hose. He was so talented. At Mount Vernon, we did see a slave burial site that was discovered in 2014 by archaeologists. That area had a pretty monument and rocks painted by children covering each grave.

We visited our dear friend, Shana, her son, Sammy, and their dog, Rex. We missed seeing the dad, Sam. Sorry we didn’t see you this time, Sam.

We drove to Gettysburg and explored the battle of Gettysburg.

We went to Arlington and saw the changing of the guard. Such a moving sight to see.

We walked until our feet almost fell off. Mr. Handsome drove many miles while Job navigated. Max and I sat in the back. Max watched his phone, and I shut my eyes. The traffic was fierce. So dangerous! I prayed a lot. The good Lord got us through.
What a great vacation but we are so glad to be home.
I hope you have the best day!
As always I’m glad you’re here.
Best,
Amy
