Hello Friend! Happy weekend. Yesterday, because of the rain, there was no outside work to be done, so I had the perfect opportunity to tackle some chores indoors that had been long overdue. I decided to clean and wash out several cabinets in my kitchen, which had accumulated dust and clutter over time. As I worked, I also went through the food in the pantry and threw out some outdated items that had been sitting there for far too long. What a waste! It always makes me feel so ashamed to throw food away, especially knowing there are people who go hungry. One of the cabinets in my island, where I store my baking goods, had sugar spilled out. I’m surprised we didn’t have ants. Luckily, I also found an empty container that the sugar actually belongs in, but I can’t believe I had let it get to that point without taking the time to pour the sugar into the container.
Sunday I leave for church camp where I am a chaperone, and I am really looking forward to the experience. It’s the same camp I grew up going to, which brings back a lot of fond memories of my childhood and the friendships I made there. Some of the kids that go to the youth group that I work with are also attending this year, and I think it will be a wonderful opportunity for them to bond and learn together in a nurturing environment. It should be an exciting and transformative week for everyone involved. So there will not be a blog next week, as my focus will be on the campers and making sure they have the best experience possible. If you follow along on my stories, I hope to capture and share some highlights from my week there.
Oh, I did prepare some lessons for my art class yesterday that I will be teaching when I get home from camp. I thought we could watercolor a mushroom together as one of the lessons. We will start by exploring different shades of red and orange, mixing them to create a realistic look, and then I’ll guide the student on how to layer the colors to give depth to the mushroom. I believe this project will spark creativity.

As always I’m glad you’re here.
Best,
Amy
