Hello Friend. Happy New Year! Did you have a good Christmas? It was usually warm for us this time of year. I wore short sleeves to church, and when we arrived at my Mom’s, our nephew had shorts and short sleeves on as well. It felt quite strange for this area, as we are usually bundled up in layers of winter clothing during the holidays. The good part of it was we didn’t freeze while taking in the presents. We gathered around the tree, with joy filling the room as we unwrapped gifts, the warmth of the day contrasting with the holiday spirit that surrounded us. On Christmas day, we celebrated with just our family of four, creating a cozy atmosphere that allowed us to appreciate each other’s company. It was a sweet time unwrapping gifts, playing Ransom notes, a thoughtful gift to me from Mr. Handsome, and sharing a meal together that felt even more special this year. Max’s prayer at lunch resembled a heartfelt 2-minute sermon, touching everyone’s hearts, and I felt proud that he took a moment to thank Jesus for the true meaning of Christmas. During our meal, we reminisced, laughing over past memories while creating new ones. We ended the day by going to my Mother-in-laws and visiting with all the Meyer family.

On New Year’s Eve, we celebrated at the Henderson’s house with many friends. Our boys went along with us. We played a game, visited and ate great food. Angela brought the most scrumptious toffee on top of kettle chips, a unique and irresistible combination that quickly became the highlight of my night. I could have eaten every bit of what she brought, as it was that good.

Over the break, I painted a wall hutch for my antique booth. I chose a delightful shade called capability green by Annie Sloan and I purchased it from Southbank gift company. In addition to the paint, I also used some transfers that I bought from the same store, which perfectly complemented the hutch and added a touch of cottage. I think it turned out pretty cute. I had envisioned lots of green in my booth because it’s such a refreshing color, but I still added playful accents of pink and red. I loved how it turned out after all the fun of Christmas was taken down, allowing my booth to shine in its own understated charm and creativity.

Today is Job’s birthday, he is twenty-three. I don’t know how that can be because I am twenty-three myself, which makes me marvel at how time flies so swiftly. Ha! Job is a great person, filled with kindness and determination. He works hard and cares for others. I am incredibly proud of the person he is becoming, constantly striving to better himself. I often reflect on all the wonderful times Mr. Handsome and I have spent raising him, from the playful moments of his childhood to the meaningful conversations we share now as adults. It was such a fun journey filled with laughter, challenges, and growth, and now we can truly be friends, embarking on new adventures together as he navigates life’s opportunities and hurdles. Happy Birthday to you, Son, we love you!

I hope you have a slow, restful weekend.

Best,

Amy
