Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t know much about the Kentucky Derby. I know that it is held in Louisville Kentucky. That people dress up in fine outfits, with men in suits and ladies in elegant dresses complemented by extravagant hats that range from classic to wildly creative. There are stunning red roses, premium bourbon to sip, and betting. The atmosphere is electric, filled with the sounds of cheering crowds and the pounding hooves of beautiful fast horses, with skilled jockeys who have trained for years to reach this prestigious event. That’s what I know. This past Saturday, Mr. Handsome and I went to a Kentucky Derby party hosted by our friends, who are far more fun than we are—or may I say than I am —and they host the best parties. We consistently have a great time at their beautifully decorated house, which was adorned with vivid red roses and trophies. The walls featured charming pictures of horses in action. The food spread was nothing short of amazing; there were gourmet burgers and skewers with artichokes, olives, ripe tomatoes, and creamy cheese. There was even a delightful cheese with pistachios. For dessert, we indulged in fancy s’more dessert cups served with tiny golden spoons, alongside beautifully decorated sugar cookies that added a touch of sweetness to the celebration. They had fun games set up—like taking a selfie with… and voting on the best-dressed guests—which kept everyone engaged and entertained. It was delightful to see all of the ladies’ hats and fascinators, showcasing a mix of purchases and handcrafted creations. I decided at the last minute to wear a hat myself, having contemplated it all week but never quite finding the time to plan my outfit. I rummaged through my closet and found an Old Navy hat, which I had worn at the last Derby party I attended. I plucked some flowers off of a wall decoration that I had, adding a pink ribbon for an extra touch of flair, and with about five minutes to spare, I fashioned an okay-looking hat that I felt surprisingly proud of. Then we were off to the races, ready to soak in the thrilling atmosphere, admire the stunning horses, and enjoy the spectacle together with friends.

Shelly, the lady of the house, makes the most beautiful quilts, each crafted with love and attention to detail. She changes them out for the season. I thought I would show you them, as they are truly a sight to behold and embody her incredible talent. I am not the best photographer, so I hope I do them justice.

They are so pretty with all the bright colors.

And last but not least, our Max’s final prom was Saturday night. He was invited by some kids that go to a different high school than he attends. They went to his prom with him the weekend before. I am thankful that Max has so many friends in several friend groups; it’s heartwarming to see him embraced by a diverse group of peers who genuinely appreciate him. They are such good kids, always uplifting one another and spreading positivity. I am leaving you with a picture of Max with his sexy lady sushi at his prom dinner.

I hope your day is great. As always I’m glad you’re here.

Best,

Amy
