Hello Friend. It’s Friday, and I can’t believe how quickly this week has flown by! Do you have any big plans for the weekend ahead? I don’t have much planned myself, just a little thrifting and some time set aside for painting, which always helps me unwind and spark creativity. So, the last time we chatted, I mentioned some artwork I was working on for my antique booth, and I wanted to share more about that process with you. I envisioned creating a charming wall that captures a cabin feel, evoking the warmth and coziness of a woodland retreat. I painted a sign that says “cabin” on an old piece of wood I had lying around, which adds a rustic touch. I painted Smokey Bear because he definitely adds some character to the cabin vibe, reminding everyone of the importance of nature and forest conservation. Along with that, I added some old paintbrushes that represent an artistic journey, an old license plate that tells a story of adventure, and that wreath I made out of a map, which is unique. Each piece comes together to create a narrative that invites viewers to step into a world filled with charm.

I kept the school area organized with the globe, which provides a colorful representation of the world, alongside a variety of books that cover numerous subjects, from health to literature. The space is also filled with vintage colored pencils in a cool box, flash cards perfect for teaching, and thermos’ for the collector. As I look around, I recall that there might be some tobacco tins in this area, and I chuckle softly to myself and think, oops! I really should find a better place for those.

The next area has the neatest old Italian Chapman solid brass pharmacy scale, a stunning piece that showcases the craftsmanship of its time and serves as a perfect conversation starter for any collector. It is definately for the collector who appreciates the history and elegance of antique items. On this table, I have not only old hymnal song books, each filled with cherished melodies and timeless lyrics that resonate with nostalgia, but also a pair of vintage binoculars that evoke the spirit of exploration. Among these treasures are old black and white photos of people I don’t know, yet each image seems to whisper stories of lives lived long ago, inviting you to weave narratives around their expressions and surroundings. Additionally, there is a neat set of drinking glasses adorned with the charming words “Sam’s apple orchard,” each glass telling tales of refreshing cider enjoyed on warm autumn afternoons and gatherings with friends.

On the long table I have many tins that represent grocery. I have cookbooks—some that was once sold in a bookstore and some that were sold at a ladies’ bazaar at church. The church cookbooks contain the best recipes, often passed down through generations. I have lots of small items on the tables—mostly glass bottles that I seem to pick up at every sale I go to, each with its unique shape and history, making them feel like little works of art. There is something darling about small bottles; they capture the essence of simplicity and elegance, inviting curiosity.

I changed up the wall above the table, adding a big grocery sign that captures attention. Alongside it, I have included a pop-up picture of a market that is so cute and brimming with fresh produce, evoking a sense of warmth for bustling market days. To complement this lively scene, I incorporated two vintage flour ads, each one showcasing delightful illustrations that take one back to simpler times, while a charming cream of wheat ad adds a touch of whimsy and hints at hearty breakfasts. As a finishing touch, I also lettered and framed a picture that says “Dinner Time,” which serves as a warm invitation to gather around the table for shared meals and cherished moments. This revitalized wall decor not only enhances the aesthetic of the space but also infuses it with personality and a sense of comfort.
I hope you stop by and visit my booth in person; I would love the opportunity to connect with you and share my passion for unique finds! It is located in Dogwood Vintiques, a treasure trove of eclectic items. The address is 1415 Missouri Blvd, Jefferson City, Mo, a convenient spot for anyone in the area. You can easily find my booth, which is #7 Evergreen, nestled among a variety of delightful displays. Each piece has a story to tell, and I am excited to help you discover something special that resonates with you!
As always I’m glad you’re here.
Best,
Amy
