When the storm roars, when the storm roars, when the storm roars all around. I am weak, but He is strong; by His might, I hold on tight. When the storm roars, when the storm roars, when the storm roars all around. I remember this little song I learned from camp when I was young, a melody that stuck with me through the years. We are having storms here; in fact, last night there were tornado warnings, and today there are tornado warnings around us. Even though this song is not about weather storms, its message of resilience and strength resonates within me, reminding me to stay grounded and hopeful, even as the winds howl and rain pounds against the windows.
Last night we said goodbye to our seniors at youth group, a poignant moment that stirred a mix of emotions among us all. It is always bittersweet to see them go after having poured our hearts and souls into their development since they were just in sixth grade. Over the years, I’ve watched them mature into incredible young adults, and as a youth sponsor, I take my role very seriously, understanding the responsibility I have to offer guidance and teach them about Jesus in the limited time we have together. We build relationships that transcend the traditional student-teacher boundaries, and in the end, we become friends. My prayer for each of them is that they will not venture onto paths that are not led by God but rather stay faithful and resilient in their faith throughout adulthood. Amanda, my small group partner, and I decided to commemorate this transition by giving the three girls a thoughtful gift as they left our group. We presented them with a collapsible laundry basket, essential laundry items, fluffy towels, and a junk journal made personally by me. Each journal filled with my paintings, inspirational scriptures, and pockets for them to add whatever treasures they wish to keep close. Although I don’t have a picture of the laundry baskets, I do have a snapshot of the journals that I am excited to show you. If you would like me to create a personalized journal for you or as a gift for someone special, please don’t hesitate to send me a message—I’d love to craft something meaningful for you!

We also are going to have to say goodbye at the end of the summer to the Jacobi’s, a husband and wife team who have been absolutely vital in our youth group. They have been to every middle school retreat and high school function, bringing with them not only their enthusiasm but also their unwavering support. Not only did they serve diligently in those areas, but they were also instrumental in teaching and guiding the students who are involved in the youth band. Their dedication to nurturing the talents of our youth is unmatched, as they encouraged and led the students to take the reins, leading us in worship every Sunday night. Their ability to connect with the students and foster a sense of community within the group has been remarkable. As they prepare to embark on a new chapter in their lives, we realize how much they will be greatly missed, and I am not sure what we will do without them. However, I firmly believe that God has a plan for our group, and I need to trust Him in His leading, knowing that He will provide and open new doors for us in the future.
As always I’m glad you’re here.
Best,
Amy
